The Knights display Resilience yet victory evades | ADKR vs MIE | ADKR 2024

The Knights clashed with the MI Emirates in their first home game of the season at the glorious Zayed Cricket Stadium. After coming off an impressive win in their first game, the Knights looked to carry forward the momentum and put their best forward. The fans were eager to see this heavyweight clash as both the teams were stacked up with superstars and the contest promised to be a spectacular one.

ADKR were put into bat first on a pitch which had some help for the fast bowlers. The openers found it difficult to adapt to the conditions with the ball swinging both ways. ADKR continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, allowing no momentum in their favour. Andre Russell put his hand up in a difficult situation as he always does, took the attack to the opposition bowlers. Dre-Russ smashed 48 runs of just 25 balls at 192 strike-rate and dominated the 4 sixes and 3 boundaries. The Knights toiled hard to set a total of 95 runs on the board at the end of their innings, where Russell stood up to be their saviour.

While defending the total, the ADKR bowlers went on the attack right from the start and looked for wickets. The Knights aimed to make the opposition work hard for the runs and not give away too many loose deliveries. The opposition openers came hard at the ADKR bowlers as the pitch kept getting better to bat on. Matiullah Khan picked up the wicket of Kusal Perera in the power-play and the knights looked to come back in the game. However, the total proved to be too less to defend for the bowlers as the MI Emirates clinched victory by 9 wickets. The Knights will be looking to come back strong in the next game and put on a better overall team performance to get back on track in the tournament.
